HypeMachine Radio + RJD2 Remix + Flying Lotus
April 7th, 2010
The lovelies over at Hypemachine Radio were kind enough to toss my lil’ RJD2 remix on their April 2010 edition. The show is “the place to hear what’s buzzing on the HypeMachine” and “what’s getting the most attention on music blogs all over the world.” Not too shabby!
This month’s episode features yours truly, alongside Dum Dum Girls, J Dilla, Elliot Smith, and Ariel Pink, among others… Here’s the playlist:
1. Delorean – Stay Close
2. Cults – Go Outside
3. J Dilla – The Diff’rence
4. Mindless Boogie – El Toro (Prins Thomas Edit)
5. Prins Thomas – Uggebugg
6. Holy Fuck – Latin America
7. Wait What – Islands Is The Limit (Notorious B.I.G. vs The XX Mashup)
8. The Jam – Boy About Town
9. Dum Dum Girls – Jail La La
10. RJD2 – The Shining Path (Alan Wilkis Remix)
11. Snowden – Don’t Really Know Me
12. Elliott Smith – Twilight
13. Crayon Fields – All The Pleasures Of The World (Dan Block Remix)
14. Crayon Fields – All The Pleasures of The World
15. Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti – Round and Round
And be sure to check out some of their previous episodes as well – they’re a wonderful, democratic, and extremely-reliable source of what’s new and awesome out there. I also had the great pleasure of meeting the folks behind the show, and they are just delightful people. Amen.
On a completely different note, I’ve REALLY been enjoying the new album from Flying Lotus, entitled “Cosmogramma.” Really awesome cut-n-paste electronic, but with a little bit of that Dilla goodness in the pulse… Really interesting sample-choices and amazing sense of rhythm. Here’s one song that uses a ping-pong ball sound for the beat, and features Laura Darlington (wife of Daedalus, oddly enough) on vocals:
“Table Tennis (ft. Laura Darlington)”
Much love,
Your man,
A
